Program Details

In partnership with Traction on Demand and Cycling BC, participants will tackle basic and intermediate cycling skills in 5 different types of cycling, including Mountain Biking, Velodrome, BMX, Road and Cyclocross, and also learn how to computer code, build their own website, create a movie and present their work to the class.

Participants must be fluent in English.

Intermediate cycling skills are required for this camp. Participants should be comfortable with the following:
• Use gears to ride up a hill for 2-3 minutes
• Able to ride a bike with 1 hand
• Lift the front wheel
• Ride off a sidewalk curb smoothly

Please carefully read CyclingBC skills level requirements at the following link before registering: Skill Levels. These camps are designed for skill level 4 and 5 riders.

Photo Release: This camp will include photograph and video collection to help participants analyze and improve their cycling. A summary of the videos and photos may also be circulated amongst the participants in a post-camp camp. This summary video and photographs may also be used for 2021 promotional material.

Acknowledgment of Risk: As a condition of your participation in the Bikes & Bytes Camp, you will be required to sign the following online waivers/releases prior to the start of camp for: 1) SFU; 2) Cycling BC; 3) Burnaby Velodrome Club. You will be directed to the relevant SFU form as part of the registration process. The relevant forms for Cycling BC and Burnaby Velodrome Club can be found at cyclingbc.net/iridereg (available Feb 15th).
